Two Departures From the CONNECT! Board of Directors.
On October 6, 2017 the Board of Directors announced to the 2017 membership that CONNECT! the Boardwalks will move to corporate dissolution effective December 31, 2017, and that funds remaining in the corporate bank account will be donated to Southwestern Oregon Community College for the benefit of the Health & Science Technology Building. $9,791.87 was donated to SWOCC . The Beetham family will match these funds to SWOCC, doubling the value of this donation.
Thank you to the membership, volunteers, supporters, and Board of Directors for making this contribution possible, and for furthering a goal of CONNECT! the Boardwalks - enhancing and supporting the health of our community.
Effective December 31, 2017 CONNECT! the Boardwalks Chair and President, Elizabeth Spona will retire, and Skip Weston will resign his position as Vice President.
Elizabeth Spona has been involved with the Coos Waterfront Walkway project since 2010, first on the Advisory Committee for the Concept Plan and then as founder, board chair, and president of CONNECT! the Boardwalks. Elizabeth looks forward to a time when the goals set by CONNECT! the Boardwalks will be attained in time by the dedicated and talented members of this board, and our wonderful volunteers and membership.
“There is never a perfect time for this type of transition, but now is the right time for me. We have embarked on a complex and long term project together. We need a chairman who can carry this project into the future.”
Skip Weston has been involved with CONNECT! the Boardwalks since moving to the Coos Bay Area in 2014, and has served the organization well with his enthusiasm and tireless work on the Board of Directors, as well as managing our information table.
